Why Is a Balloon Flight Priced This Way?

It is a real aviation operation

A commercial balloon flight is far more involved than it looks from the ground. Every flight needs a licensed commercial pilot, a full ground crew, a chase vehicle, propane, an inflation fan, insurance, and an aircraft that must be maintained and re-certified on a strict schedule.

The weather window is tiny

Flights only launch in a narrow window of calm air at sunrise, and a single balloon can carry a handful of guests per morning. The price reflects a genuinely low-volume, high-cost operation — not a theme-park ride.

What is not included

Breakfast is not included with the Sunrise Package or Gift Voucher. A full meal at the local bistro is included with both Exclusive packages. There are no other costs on the day.

How Payment Works

Securing a sunrise seat

For sunrise flights we no longer take full upfront payment. You secure your seats with a non-refundable R250 per ticket admin fee (EFT or SnapScan), and the balance is settled on site on the morning of your flight.

Vouchers and exclusive charters

Gift vouchers are paid in full up front. Exclusive flights are secured with a non-refundable deposit — R2,000 for the 2–8 guest package, or R250 per guest for the large party package — with the balance paid on the day.
