A sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Cape Winelands is one of the most romantic things to do on a Cape Town honeymoon. Couples can share a basket on a standard sunrise flight from R4,500 per person, or book the whole balloon privately with the Exclusive Flight Experience at R28,080 for 2 to 8 guests, including a full meal at the local bistro.

Why a Balloon Flight Belongs on a Honeymoon

It is genuinely quiet

Once the burner rests, there is almost no sound at all. No traffic, no crowd, no queue — just the two of you drifting over vineyards as the mountains catch the first light.

It sets the tone for the whole trip

Fly early in your honeymoon and everything that follows feels unhurried. You are back on the ground with your day still ahead of you.

Shared Basket or Private Balloon?

Sunrise Package — R4,500 per person

A shared-basket sunrise flight with up to eight guests. Romantic, sociable and the easiest way to fly.

Exclusive Flight Experience — R28,080

The whole balloon reserved for your group of 2 to 8, with a full meal at the local bistro afterwards. Ideal if you want the morning entirely to yourselves, and the natural choice for a proposal or an anniversary.

Planning a Proposal

Let us know when you book. We will keep it discreet, make room for the moment, and help with photographs from the basket. A private flight makes it simpler, but plenty of proposals have happened on shared flights too.

Building the Rest of the Morning

Stay close to the Winelands

Because flights launch at sunrise, a night in or near Stellenbosch or Paarl makes the early start painless.

Afterwards

Wine tasting, a long lunch in the valley, or a drive over one of the mountain passes. You will be finished with the flight by mid-morning.
